1/3 cup butter or olive oil
2-3 cloves garlic, slivered or minced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 cup low-fat milk
Place butter or oil and garlic in a 9 by 13 inch baking pan and put in
cold oven. Turn oven on to 425 degrees. In meantime, in batter bowl
whisk together the flours, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add milk and
mix until it clings together. Dump out onto floured surface and knead
lightly about 10 times. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick into a rectangle 12 by
8 inches. Cut dough in half, and then into 16 strips. Carefully remove
hot pan from oven and roll the strips in the butter, arranging together
in two rows. Bake 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
