Cookie Cutter Recipe

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
2 teaspoons vanilla or 2 drops of flavoring oils, such as eggnog
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Cream the sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer. Beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, milk, and flavoring until combined. Combine the dry ingredients, then add slowly to creamed mixture.

Mix until combined. Cover and refrigerate for approximately half an hour. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to a 1/8 inch thickness.

Cut out desired shapes. Place cookies on baking sheet. Bake at 375 until lightly browned - 8-12 minutes. Decorate with frosting, sugar sprinkles, luster dust, or anything special.
