Almond Apple Pie

Crust:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1/4 to 1/2 cup water

Filling:
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2/3 cup sliced almonds
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 tablespoon butter

Prepare basic pie crust. Divide into 2 equal parts. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll first crust out to 12-inches. Place in 9-inch pie plate. Combine the next 6 ingredients in batter bowl. Peel, core and slice apples. Gently toss apple slices with sugar mixture. Turn into prepared pie crust. Sprinkle apples with almonds and almond extract. Dot with small pieces of butter. Roll out second crust to 13-inches. Cut pie crust into thin strips using garnisher for a lattice top pie. Bake 50-55 minutes or until filling bubbles and apples are tender.
